St. Louis, Missouri – Holiday travelers across Missouri can expect a sunny start to the Fourth of July weekend, but weather conditions may shift by Sunday as storm chances increase statewide.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Independence Day on Friday will be mostly sunny and warm with highs in the low to mid-90s and overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Saturday stays warm and partly sunny, but by Sunday, scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop across central and eastern Missouri, with a 20–40% chance of rain.

Cities including Columbia, Jefferson City, and St. Charles could see brief downpours late Sunday, while areas farther south such as Rolla and Cape Girardeau may also face pop-up evening storms. Outdoor plans and fireworks shows should be closely monitored, especially late in the weekend.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated in the heat, limit midday activities, and keep an eye on rapidly changing conditions through local alerts or weather.gov. While Sunday may cool slightly into the mid-80s in some areas, the added humidity and storm risk will impact outdoor festivities.

More detailed storm alerts may be issued as the weekend progresses.
