Chicago, IL – Three juveniles are facing multiple felony charges after allegedly carrying out five armed robberies in under an hour Tuesday morning in Chicago’s Oakland neighborhood.

Police say the spree began around 6:30 a.m. when the trio, armed with a stun gun, approached a woman, demanded her car keys, and fled in her vehicle. The group, which included a 13-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a 17-year-old, allegedly committed four more armed robberies before 7:10 a.m.

According to the Chicago Police Department, CPD’s Helicopter Unit tracked the suspects as they crashed the stolen vehicle in the Riverdale neighborhood and ran into a nearby home. Officers from CPD’s SWAT team and the 5th (Calumet) District took all three into custody.

The juveniles have been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, multiple counts of armed robbery with both a firearm and a dangerous weapon, attempted armed robbery, and aggravated battery in a public place.

Police credit the arrests to interdepartmental coordination between CPD’s Bureau of Patrol, Bureau of Counterterrorism, and Bureau of Detectives, as well as video and physical evidence gathered during the investigation.
