Dallas, Texas – North Texans should brace for scorching temperatures this week, with highs nearing or exceeding 100°F by Sunday across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a strong ridge of high pressure aloft will build over the region beginning midweek, pushing afternoon highs into the upper 90s and beyond. The chance of hitting 100°F on Sunday, June 29, is 60–70% in cities like Gainesville and Graham, and 40–60% for DFW and Canton.

While the forecast calls for extreme heat, current projections stay below record levels. Dallas-Fort Worth’s all-time high for June 29 is 108°F, while this Sunday is expected to peak near 100°F. Waco, which reached 104°F on the same date in 1980, should top out around 96°F.

Residents in areas like Cisco, Waco, and Killeen will still see intense heat, but lower chances of triple-digit readings. Locals are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and ensure pets and vulnerable individuals have adequate cooling options.

This warming trend is expected to persist into early July. Heat advisories may be issued later this week as temperatures climb.
