EL PASO, Texas – A dangerous and prolonged heat wave will grip West Texas and Southern New Mexico to begin the work week, creating significant health risks as temperatures soar well above 100 degrees. The persistent, oppressive heat will impact travel along major corridors like Interstate 10 and pose a danger to anyone without adequate cooling. According to the National Weather Service in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, a Heat Advisory is now in effect for the region until midnight Tuesday night. This alert covers Western El Paso County in Texas, as well as Southern Dona Ana County and the Mesilla Valley in New Mexico. The advisory includes the cities of El Paso, Las Cruces, and Vado, where high temperatures are expected to reach between 105 and 107 degrees.
