Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Hazardous marine conditions are unfolding off Mexico’s Pacific coast this weekend, with tropical storm-force winds and steep seas from Baja California Sur to Colima through Saturday night.
According to the National Hurricane Center, a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for offshore waters within 250 nautical miles of the coastline. Winds are expected to reach 35 knots south of 22°N today, with seas peaking between 10 to 15 feet before gradually subsiding late Saturday. Numerous squalls and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, especially near the entrance of the Gulf of California.
Conditions off the coast of Jalisco and Colima will also remain dangerous through Saturday, with strong SW winds north of 18°N and sustained seas of 10 to 13 feet in the morning, easing slightly by evening. Visibility may be reduced in heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Mariners are advised to remain in port and avoid open waters. Small vessels should take immediate shelter, and larger ships are urged to navigate with extreme caution.
Seas are forecast to gradually subside to 6–8 feet by Sunday, with wind speeds decreasing across the region. Additional marine advisories may follow if conditions persist into early next week.
