Pendleton, Oregon – Strong wind gusts will pound Eastern Oregon’s foothills Saturday evening, just as a string of sunny summer days takes hold statewide.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. PDT Saturday for the foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains, including Pendleton, Pilot Rock, and Athena. Winds from the west will blow 25 to 35 mph with gusts topping 50 mph, posing a threat to unsecured objects, tree limbs, and even power lines. Motorists—especially those driving high-profile vehicles—should avoid travel on U.S. Highway 395 during peak gust periods.

Sunday, June 1 brings a sharp weather shift across Oregon, with widespread sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 70s in Eugene and Portland, reaching 80°F in Medford and nearing 87°F again in Pendleton. Breezy conditions will linger Sunday in some areas, especially east of the Cascades.

From Monday through Wednesday, calm, dry conditions are expected. Highs remain in the low to mid-80s statewide, under mostly sunny skies. Portland and Eugene will see highs around 76–78°F, while Southern Oregon continues to trend warmer, peaking at 84°F in Medford by Wednesday.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires may drift into Eastern Oregon and the Willamette Valley by midweek, reducing visibility slightly—but no air quality alerts have been issued yet.

Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, expect continued partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, signaling the first sustained stretch of summer weather across the region.
