Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Summer-like heat returns to southwestern Pennsylvania as June begins with a dry and sunny stretch—and daytime highs pushing 89°F by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Pittsburgh will see a steady climb in temperatures starting Sunday, June 1, with highs reaching 68°F. The warming trend continues Monday (75°F), peaking near 84°F Tuesday and hitting 89°F by Wednesday, June 5. Skies will stay mostly clear throughout the stretch, with little to no rain expected until Thursday.
The forecast favors outdoor activities, but residents should be alert to the rising UV index and stay hydrated, especially during peak afternoon hours. Light winds and minimal cloud cover will contribute to quick heating by midday. Although roads like I-376 and Route 28 will remain dry, heat buildup can create glare hazards and driver fatigue—especially on longer commutes.
Smoke from Canadian wildfires may intermittently impact air quality early in the week, particularly during calm overnight hours and early mornings. Sensitive groups should limit prolonged outdoor exposure.
Looking ahead, Thursday brings a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, followed by a stronger rain chance on Friday. Temperatures remain elevated, hovering in the mid to upper 80s through next weekend.
Expect summer-like heat to dominate the region through at least Friday. More updates will follow if air quality advisories or new alerts are issued.
