Fargo, N.D. – Isolated severe thunderstorms could bring quarter-size hail and 60+ mph winds to parts of southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a Level 2 out of 5 risk has been issued for scattered storms developing in areas including Fargo, Valley City, and Wahpeton. The greatest threat will occur Monday afternoon into early evening, with damaging wind gusts and hail as the main hazards.

Cities like Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, and Moorhead fall within the risk zone. While tornadoes are not expected, outdoor plans may be impacted and power outages are possible if winds down trees or lines.

Drivers on I-94 and Highway 10 should monitor radar updates and delay travel if storms intensify. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

This is the first organized severe threat for parts of the region in several weeks, and it comes ahead of a warm, humid air mass moving in from the south.

Storm activity is expected to taper off Monday night, but additional watches may be issued if the system strengthens. Stay weather-aware into the evening hours.
