Columbus, Ohio – Rain is moving across Ohio this morning, with steady showers expected to persist throughout the day and some afternoon storms potentially adding to already soaking conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, areas south of the Ohio River could see the highest rainfall totals by Friday night, with 1 to 1.5 inches expected in cities like Portsmouth, Maysville, and Peebles. Most of central and southern Ohio—including Columbus, Chillicothe, and Cincinnati—can expect between 0.25 and 1 inch of rain, with showers tapering off late Friday evening.

Rain is arriving from the west and could cause slick roads during both morning and evening commutes. Motorists along I-71 and U.S. 23 should plan for slower travel, especially where ponding or heavier downpours occur. In hilly areas near the Kentucky border, localized flooding may briefly develop in poor drainage zones.

If you’re in southern counties like Scioto or Adams, keep an eye on the radar after noon—isolated storms may pop up quickly. Power outages aren’t likely, but charging devices and avoiding flooded roads is still a smart move.

Rain chances ease after sunset, but another round could return this weekend. Stay tuned for updated advisories if storms intensify.
