Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas residents are in for a scorching Memorial Day, with temperatures soaring past 100°F and chances of thunderstorms increasing midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, highs between 88°F and 103°F are expected Monday, with a 15% to 51% chance of showers or storms through Friday. Wednesday marks the peak storm risk with a 51% chance of rain, while daily highs remain well into the upper 90s.

The heat will stretch across Nueces, Kleberg, and Jim Wells counties, with overnight lows staying in the mid-70s, offering little relief. Cities like Kingsville, Alice, and Beeville should brace for triple-digit afternoons, particularly Monday and Tuesday, when highs may top 102°F.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat, and monitor local alerts for potential lightning or heavy rain. Outdoor plans for Memorial Day should include backup options as clouds and pop-up showers remain a possibility.

The heat and humidity will persist into the weekend, with storm chances tapering to 30% by Friday. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
