Fort Worth, Texas – Hot, humid weather is gripping North and East Texas on Sunday, with isolated thunderstorms expected by afternoon and a higher threat of severe storms arriving overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, heat index values could exceed 100 degrees Sunday afternoon across cities including DFW, Waco, and Killeen. Isolated storms may develop in areas like Sherman and Palestine during the day, but the main severe threat begins late Sunday night as a system moves in from the northwest.

Counties from Graham to Paris—including DFW, Cisco, and Canton—face a heightened risk for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated power outages. The agency warns that unsecured outdoor objects should be tied down and encourages residents to have multiple ways of receiving alerts, especially while sleeping.

Road travel could be hazardous in storm-hit areas, particularly where hail or wind damage occurs. Temperatures will remain in the 90s through the evening, increasing discomfort and heat-related health risks.

Storm chances will persist into early Monday, and more watches or warnings may follow as the system moves east.
