Paducah, Kentucky – Strong storms will target western Kentucky by Memorial Day afternoon, bringing a risk of heavy rain, lightning, and isolated flooding across the region. Residents traveling on U.S. Highway 60 should prepare for rapidly changing conditions and potential delays through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered showers are expected early Monday, but the primary concern begins after 1 p.m., when thunderstorms are likely to intensify. The threat includes locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and minor flooding—especially in low-lying areas and along roadways in Paducah, Murray, Mayfield, and the Missouri Ozarks.

Monday night brings an 80% chance of continued storms, with rainfall totals high enough to spark localized flash flooding. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and have backup power sources ready in case of outages.

By Tuesday, the weather remains unsettled. Showers are expected throughout the day, and another round of storms is possible late Tuesday night, though the severe threat appears lower. Wednesday marks a return to partly sunny skies and drier air, with highs nearing 77°F.

☀️ Five-Day Summer Weather Outlook:

  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, high near 79°F, mild breeze.
