Shreveport, Louisiana – Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt across the Four States region this afternoon, with the greatest danger near and northwest of I-30. Storms may intensify by early evening, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and a chance of isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Level 2 out of 5 risk covers southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas, northeast Texas, and north Louisiana. The threat is highest late Sunday into the early morning hours of Monday, particularly near cities like Texarkana, Longview, and Shreveport.

Potential hazards include wind gusts over 60 mph, hail the size of quarters or larger, and brief tornadoes that cannot be ruled out. Storms are expected to begin late afternoon and could persist past midnight, disrupting travel and outdoor plans.

Residents along I-30 and in surrounding areas should have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially after dark. Charge mobile devices, secure outdoor objects, and avoid unnecessary travel tonight.

The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the system. Additional watches or warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
