Paducah, Kentucky – Scattered thunderstorms are set to return across western Kentucky tonight and may intensify into severe storms by late Monday into Tuesday evening, bringing the potential for damaging wind and heavy downpours.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, today’s best storm chances will remain in southeast Missouri, with broader coverage moving into the region tonight and lasting through Tuesday. Highs will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s, with humid conditions fueling storm development across southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee.
Cities like Cape Girardeau, Murray, and Owensboro could see repeated rounds of rainfall, leading to ponding on roads and potential power outages. Drivers are urged to avoid flood-prone areas and keep cell phones charged in case of severe alerts. Tuesday night may bring the strongest storms, particularly along the I-24 corridor.
Cooler air arrives by Wednesday, dropping daytime highs into the 60s and low 70s with isolated showers still possible in parts of southern Illinois and the Pennyrile. By Thursday, most of the region will turn dry and partly sunny, offering a much-needed break from the active pattern.
Additional watches or warnings may be issued as storms evolve Monday night.
