Caribou, Maine – Off-and-on rain will continue across Maine through late Monday, bringing up to 1.5 inches of additional rainfall in northern areas and over 2 inches possible along the coast. Highs will struggle to reach 50°F on Monday, making it feel more like early April than mid-May.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, steady precipitation will persist from Sunday into Monday night, with northern towns like Estcourt Station, Fort Kent, and Patten expecting 1 to 1.5 inches of rain. Downeast communities including Machias and Eastport could see totals between 2.0 and 2.5 inches by Tuesday morning.
Inland towns like Greenville, Millinocket, and Lincoln may see between 0.5 and 0.8 inches, while Bangor is projected to receive between 0.2 and 0.5 inches. Cooler air will follow the rain, keeping temperatures below normal into midweek.
Residents are advised to avoid flooded roadways, clear storm drains, and check basements for seepage. Drivers should be cautious of ponding on roads, especially in low-lying areas.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday, but cool, cloudy weather may linger into Wednesday. Updates will continue as new rainfall data becomes available.
