Miami, Florida – South Florida will sizzle under sunny skies Saturday as temperatures climb into the mid-90s across interior areas, raising heat concerns for inland communities like La Belle and Immokalee.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, highs will reach the upper 80s along the coasts—including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Naples—but inland temperatures are expected to surge into the lower to middle 90s, peaking between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Locations such as Lakeport, Belle Glade, and Flamingo could feel the brunt of the heat.
Residents are urged to hydrate throughout the day, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours, and stay in air-conditioned spaces if possible. The NWS also recommends limiting outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., particularly for vulnerable populations.
While this pattern is typical for mid-May in South Florida, today’s heat may feel intense due to light winds and full sunshine. Urban areas could see elevated heat index values, especially where shade is limited.
No formal heat advisories have been issued, but forecasters warn that similar conditions may continue into early next week. Updates will follow as necessary.
