Tampa, Fla. – Sunshine and soaring temperatures will dominate Tampa Bay this weekend, with highs near 97°F pushing toward record territory by Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa, a high-pressure system is keeping skies mostly clear and conditions dry across central Florida. Daytime temperatures will climb into the mid-to-upper 90s both Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows only dipping into the mid-70s. Saturday’s high is expected to reach 95°F in some inland areas, while Sunday could see highs up to 97°F.

Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties should prepare for hot afternoons and increased sun exposure. With virtually no rain expected and low humidity, sunburn and heat stress are real concerns. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and check on vulnerable neighbors without air conditioning.

This weekend’s pattern mirrors early summer heat seen in previous years, although it’s arriving a few weeks ahead of schedule. While no heat advisories are currently in place, forecasters are monitoring conditions closely as temperatures approach daily records set in the early 2000s.

The heat is expected to persist into early next week. Additional weather updates will be issued if advisories become necessary.
