San Antonio, Texas – A blistering spring afternoon is unfolding across south-central Texas as heat index values soar above 105°F, triggering a heat advisory in San Antonio and surrounding counties through 7 p.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, temperatures will approach 98°F today with oppressive humidity pushing heat index readings to a staggering 107°F. The advisory impacts a wide swath of the region, including Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson, and Medina counties. Drivers on I-35 and I-10 are urged to carry water and limit non-essential travel, especially between 2 and 6 p.m., when heat stress is highest.

Health officials warn that prolonged exposure can lead to heat exhaustion or stroke. Residents should avoid strenuous outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on older neighbors and pets. Lightweight clothing and frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces are critical.

Friday night brings little relief, with lows only dipping into the upper 70s. Saturday will be even hotter—San Antonio is forecast to hit 100°F under mostly sunny skies. High temperatures near or above 100°F will persist through Monday, with Monday projected at 101°F.

By Monday night, isolated storms may bring slight cooling, but the extended forecast remains summer-like. Tuesday and Wednesday stay dry with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Thursday brings more of the same.

Warnings remain in effect through Friday evening. San Antonio residents should expect elevated heat risk into early next week.
