Memphis, TN – Two deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office have been terminated after an internal investigation uncovered misconduct, the department confirmed Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both an administrative review and a criminal investigation. The misconduct, which was not detailed in the release, prompted swift action from leadership after it was reported.

The statement notes that following the investigation, both deputies were removed from their positions. The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office was briefed on the matter, but no charges will be pursued as the reported victim expressed a desire not to continue with the case.

“These deputies have failed to uphold the trust placed in them by the community and this office,” said Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr. in the statement.

The department emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability among its personnel, adding that it will continue prioritizing public safety and community trust.

The incident underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address internal misconduct and maintain transparency with the public.
