Waco, TX Faces 107°F Highs as Heat Index Soars—Advisory in Effect Until 9 PM Wednesday

Waco, TX — Central Texas residents are bracing for extreme heat Wednesday as temperatures climb into the triple digits, prompting a Heat Advisory across several counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs between 102°F and 107°F are expected from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Bell, Coryell, Falls, Lampasas, McLennan, Milam, and Robertson counties. The heat index could reach between 105°F and 110°F, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for those outdoors.

Waco is forecast to hit 102°F, while Killeen could see a scorching 104°F. Dallas-Fort Worth will also approach dangerous thresholds at 101°F, and other nearby cities like Cisco, Graham, and Sherman are all forecast in the mid to upper 90s.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and limit outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Emergency officials advise taking breaks in air-conditioned spaces and learning the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Above-normal heat is expected to continue through the weekend. Scattered storms may return by Friday, with a chance for severe weather across North and Central Texas through Sunday.
