Albany, N.Y. – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to roll into the Capital Region late Friday, potentially disrupting travel and outdoor plans through the weekend. With increasing rain chances and possible storms stretching into Sunday, residents should prepare for damp roads, localized flooding, and changing temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, Wednesday will bring a 30% chance of showers after 2 p.m., with highs near 72°F. Rain chances increase to 40% Wednesday night, then climb again to 50% by Friday, when thunderstorms become possible after 8 p.m. Southeast winds could further affect driving conditions along I-90 and Route 7 into Rensselaer County.

Thursday brings a brief break, with only a 30% chance of morning showers, followed by dry, cloudy skies. However, Friday night marks the beginning of an unsettled stretch, with possible thunderstorms and muggy conditions as temps rise to 81°F.

Rain continues Saturday — mainly after 2 p.m. — with another 60% chance of precipitation. Thunder is again possible Saturday night, and Sunday holds steady with a 50% rain risk. By Sunday night, cooler air returns as showers persist into Monday.
