Medford, Oregon – Increased shower activity begins today across southwest Oregon and will intensify through Tuesday afternoon, bringing the highest rainfall totals to Curry County. Residents in Brookings and Gold Beach could see up to 2 inches of rain within 48 hours, with isolated thunderstorms and strong gusty winds expected Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, the best chance for thunderstorms arrives between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday, with a 20-30% chance of storms and a 5-10% chance of severe activity. Lightning and damaging winds are the primary hazards, though isolated heavy downpours may lead to localized flooding, especially near low-lying roads and coastal areas.

Drivers should exercise caution on U.S. Route 101 through Curry County, where water accumulation could make travel hazardous. East of the Cascades, rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, with totals under half an inch.

If planning outdoor activities, stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts. Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon, with additional advisories possible if storm strength increases.
