Paducah, Ky. – Western Kentucky residents can expect a dry and comfortable weekend, but rain and a potential storm threat will quickly return by late Sunday night, bringing unsettled weather through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, highs will stay mild in the low to mid-70s through Sunday, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s and 50s. Conditions will shift Sunday night as scattered showers move in, followed by isolated thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s each afternoon, with increasing humidity signaling a more active weather pattern ahead.

Cities including Paducah, Murray, and Hopkinsville should prepare for isolated downpours and the possibility of lightning early next week. Commuters on I-24 and U.S. Highway 60 may face slick roads during morning and evening hours. Residents are encouraged to check gutters, secure outdoor items, and have flashlights ready in case of brief outages.

The bigger concern comes later in the week as heat and humidity ramp up significantly. Forecasters warn that the pattern could support severe thunderstorms by the weekend of May 17–18.

More updates are expected from the NWS as next week’s storm potential becomes clearer. Warnings may be issued if confidence grows.
