Houston, Texas – Texas families planning early Mother’s Day weekend outings could face soggy conditions Saturday as storms threaten to roll through Houston midday. While Saturday starts mostly dry, the National Weather Service warns of increasing thunderstorm chances after 10 a.m., followed by possible light showers into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances for Houston on Saturday are 30% during the day and drop to 20% after 7 p.m., with highs reaching 78°F. Winds from the north will hold steady around 10 mph, helping keep humidity somewhat in check. Those heading out on I-45 or other major roads should be alert for sudden downpours and brief visibility reductions during any passing cells.

By Sunday—Mother’s Day—the skies clear dramatically. Temperatures will top out around 77°F with abundant sunshine, perfect for outdoor brunches, park visits, or family events. North winds continue but lighten, adding to the comfortable early-summer feel.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday offer a stretch of classic Texas summer weather: highs near 89–93°F, mostly sunny skies, and minimal rain chances. Nights stay mild in the low to mid-60s. By midweek, partly cloudy conditions return but with continued warmth, capping off a stable and dry five-day forecast.

Five-Day Outlook for Houston:

  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 77°F
  • Monday: Sunny, high near 89°F
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high near 92°F
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, high near 93°F
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, high near 93°F
