Kansas City, Missouri – Storms could disrupt weekend plans Sunday evening in the Kansas City area as spring weather turns active once again across Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, isolated to scattered storms will develop Sunday afternoon into the night, with the strongest capable of producing marginally severe hail and wind gusts topping 40 mph. Areas along and east of the I-35 corridor—including Kansas City, Liberty, and Overland Park—should be alert for rapidly changing conditions, especially after 4 p.m.
Drivers are urged to use caution on highways like I-35 and Route 50, where wet roads and isolated wind gusts could pose travel hazards. While Sunday will start calm and sunny with highs near 69°F, storm chances grow into the evening as moisture and instability increase across northwestern and central Missouri.
The threat diminishes by early Monday, with clear skies and highs rising into the low 70s. Sunshine dominates through midweek, though another round of spring showers is expected to return Tuesday night into Wednesday, with precipitation chances peaking around 50%.
