Fort Worth, Texas – Isolated thunderstorms could fire up near Waco, Killeen, and Comanche by late Wednesday afternoon, bringing lightning and brief heavy downpours to parts of Central Texas through 10 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, lingering morning storms near the I-20 corridor and DFW Metroplex have left the atmosphere stabilized, keeping overall storm chances low—below 20% across most areas. However, pockets of airmass recovery south of that line could support isolated thunderstorm development later today.
The Texoma region, including Gainesville and Paris, is seeing lingering light showers into early afternoon. Further south, from Palestine westward to Comanche, isolated storms remain possible through tonight. The primary threats include cloud-to-ground lightning and localized downpours, with no widespread severe weather expected.
Drivers along I-35 and U.S. Highway 190 should be alert to slick roads during the evening commute, especially in areas where brief storms may form. Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and avoid outdoor activities if thunder is heard nearby.
Storm chances will rise significantly on Thursday, when a stronger system moves into the region. The Weather Service warns that more widespread rain and thunderstorms could follow, with updates likely by early Thursday morning.
