Toledo, Ohio – Winds topping 50 mph could knock down tree limbs and trigger scattered power outages across much of northern and central Ohio Monday afternoon, with thunderstorms intensifying the threat in several counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a sharp cold front moving across the state is driving southwest to west winds of 35 to 45 mph, with isolated gusts nearing 50 mph. These conditions are expected to persist through early evening, impacting areas from Toledo and Findlay to Marion and Lorain.

Storms are also developing ahead of the front, especially across Erie, Huron, and Richland counties, where radar indicates wind gusts near 40 mph and pea-sized hail. In Union and Delaware counties, fast-moving showers have already prompted special weather statements due to wind gusts strong enough to move unsecured objects and damage tree limbs.

Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should use caution on highways including I-75, US-23, and I-71. Residents are urged to secure patio furniture, trash bins, and other outdoor items.

While no widespread damage is expected, isolated power flickers and minor vegetation damage are possible. Winds will gradually weaken after sunset, but updates may follow if additional storms redevelop.
