The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for central and western Upper Michigan, including Marquette, Baraga, and Delta counties, with a widespread rain event expected to begin Thursday night and extend into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, showers will begin late Thursday and intensify into Friday, with potential thunderstorms developing Friday afternoon. Combined rain and snowmelt could lead to rises in rivers along flood-prone areas like those near U.S. Highway 41. A 60% chance of precipitation is expected Friday, rising to 100% by Thursday night.

Residents are advised to avoid low-lying roads and monitor local updates, especially in rural and river-adjacent communities. Thunderstorms could bring gusts up to 30 mph, with the risk for localized flooding through Tuesday. The Marquette area may experience cooler temperatures through the weekend, with highs in the 40s and low 50s.
