A powerful EF-3 tornado hit East Louisville early on April 3, 2025, causing significant damage across a nearly 10-mile stretch of the area. The tornado, which struck between 12:29 and 12:39 AM EDT, reached peak winds of 145 mph, making it a severe event for the region.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the storm left a path 9.68 miles long, with a maximum width of 350 yards. The NWS confirmed no injuries or fatalities, offering some relief to the community in the aftermath of this destructive storm.
Despite the extensive damage visible in the immediate aftermath, with debris scattered across the area, authorities have reported that emergency crews are working diligently to assess the full impact of the storm. The tornado was particularly fierce near Ampere Drive, where much of the damage has been concentrated.
