Juliette, GA – A flood warning remains in effect for the Falling Creek area near Juliette in Jones County as rising water levels are causing minor flooding. The National Weather Service issued the warning at 10:49 PM EDT on Monday, April 7, 2025, with impacts expected to continue until Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, the river stage at Falling Creek was 13.9 feet at 9:45 PM Monday, with a forecasted crest of 14.2 feet just after midnight. The flood stage is set at 13.0 feet, and minor flooding is expected to affect the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, impacting areas along Round Oak-Juliette Road.
The service is urging residents to take precautionary measures, especially while driving. “Turn around, don’t drown,” warns the NWS, highlighting the danger of flooded roads, which often lead to vehicle-related fatalities. Drivers should avoid barricades and never attempt to drive through flooded areas.
The river is expected to drop below flood stage by Tuesday morning, with conditions returning to normal by the afternoon.
