Pendleton, OR – A soggy spring system is bringing thunderstorms and showers to eastern Oregon, with Pendleton expected to stay wet through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the area will see persistent rainfall and possible thunderstorms through Monday night into Tuesday. Winds will gust up to 23 mph Monday and continue through Tuesday, making driving conditions along I-84 slippery and potentially hazardous. Commuters should use caution and expect slower travel during the morning and evening rush hours.

Rain will taper to a 50% chance of showers by Tuesday evening, followed by drier conditions into midweek. Monday’s high will reach 64°F, with a low of 39°F Monday night. Tuesday’s high is forecast around 62°F, and skies will begin clearing late Tuesday night with lows dropping back to 39°F.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will offer some relief with mostly sunny skies and a high near 63°F. Thursday brings warmer temperatures, peaking at 70°F under partly sunny skies. However, another round of light showers could arrive Friday and linger into Saturday, with highs ranging from 61°F to 64°F during the day and lows dipping into the upper 30s at night.

Residents should stay alert for changing conditions, especially if planning to travel. Drivers are urged to reduce speed during periods of rain and wind gusts. Keep an umbrella handy, check headlights, and avoid standing water on roadways.
