Medford, OR – A Spring frost is expected to sweep through Southern Oregon Monday night, following a day of light rain and cooler-than-usual temperatures. Residents in Medford and nearby areas along the I-5 corridor should prepare for slick conditions early Tuesday and potential frost damage by nightfall.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20% chance of rain showers Tuesday morning, mainly after 11 a.m. Snow levels will drop to 4,200 feet by the afternoon, climbing to 5,400 feet as the system weakens. Temperatures will peak near 61°F Tuesday before falling to a low of 40°F under mostly cloudy skies. Winds will remain calm in the morning, increasing to 11 mph in the afternoon.
Drivers on Interstate 5 and surrounding roads should watch for wet conditions and potential frost on bridges and overpasses after sunset. Farmers and gardeners are also advised to take precautions for frost-sensitive plants by late Tuesday evening.
Wednesday will see a modest warm-up, with partly sunny skies and a high of 70°F, followed by a cooler low of 44°F overnight. Thursday brings a slight chance of rain late, with sunny skies dominating earlier in the day and highs reaching 78°F.
Looking ahead, Medford remains dry through Friday with highs in the low 60s. By Saturday, another round of light rain returns with a chance of showers and snow above 4,500 feet.
