Indianapolis, IN — A freeze warning and flood advisory are in effect across Central Indiana as spring weather takes a wintry turn overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, a Freeze Warning remains in effect for Indianapolis and surrounding counties until 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, with temperatures expected to dip to 26°F Monday night. Simultaneously, a Flood Warning continues for parts of Marion and Johnson Counties until 8 a.m. Monday, especially affecting roadways along the I-70 corridor.

Motorists should remain cautious on morning commutes, especially in low-lying areas or near creeks. Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants and avoid flooded roadways. Winds may gust up to 26 mph, increasing risks of debris or fallen branches.

Tuesday’s weather remains unseasonably cool, with scattered morning flurries and a high near 45°F, followed by mostly clear skies Tuesday night and a low around 31°F. The cold trend breaks midweek, but rain returns Wednesday with a 60% chance during the day and an 80% likelihood of evening storms.
