Albany, NY – Rain will taper off through the day across much of eastern New York as a frontal system moves through, but residents should brace for a wintry shift overnight, particularly in elevated regions.
According to the US National Weather Service Albany, showers will linger through Sunday evening before transitioning to accumulating snow in areas such as the Catskills, Berkshires, and southern Green Mountains. Snowfall totals are forecast to reach 1 to 2 inches in these higher elevations by early Monday morning, with light accumulations also possible in parts of the Capital Region and surrounding counties.
Temperatures today are expected to remain in the upper 40s to mid-50s across Albany, Glens Falls, and Poughkeepsie. However, colder air tonight will support the transition to snow, especially above 1,000 feet elevation. Windham, Cobleskill, and Great Barrington are among the communities expected to see the most significant impacts.
Motorists traveling overnight and during the Monday morning commute should prepare for slick roads, particularly on secondary and untreated routes. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and allow extra travel time where snowfall is expected.
