Davenport, IA — A 7-year-old child was injured Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle during a domestic incident in Davenport.
According to the Davenport Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. on April 4, 2025, in the 4300 block of North Division Street. First responders, including police, fire personnel, and Medic EMS, arrived on scene following reports of a child hit by a vehicle.
Initial findings indicate a domestic disturbance broke out between two adults in an apartment complex parking lot. While attempting to flee, the suspect allegedly struck the child—identified as a relative of one of the involved adults—before fleeing the scene. The child sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Medic EMS.
Authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old Damazio Moore, who was later taken into custody by the Iowa State Patrol. Moore faces multiple charges, including Domestic Abuse Assault Resulting in Bodily Injury, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury, Reckless Driving, and No Insurance Involving an Accident.
The Davenport Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate. No further information is available at this time.
