Memphis, TN – A tornado that struck the Pickwick Lake region Thursday afternoon has been confirmed as an EF1, leaving behind a 16.75-mile damage path and peak winds of 105 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, the tornado touched down between 4:55 and 5:08 p.m. CDT on April 3, 2025. The storm’s path ran through Cooks Landing County and may extend farther west into Alcorn County, Mississippi, as officials continue damage surveys.

The twister reached a maximum width of 425 yards but resulted in no reported injuries or fatalities. Damage assessment teams noted structural damage along the storm’s path and are reviewing additional reports from nearby areas.

Residents in bordering counties, including parts of Mississippi, are advised to remain alert as further analysis could reveal broader impacts. Emergency management services urge locals to review severe weather safety protocols and have plans in place during spring storm season.

This tornado adds to an active early April weather pattern in the Mid-South, where fluctuating temperatures and moisture have heightened instability. Authorities continue to monitor conditions that may lead to additional severe weather outbreaks.
