Crookston, MN – A late-season winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of northwest Minnesota, bringing light snow and hazardous travel conditions to the region overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the advisory was extended Wednesday evening and now remains in effect until 1 a.m. CDT Thursday. Affected areas include West Polk, Norman, Roseau, West Marshall, East Marshall, Pennington, Red Lake, and East Polk counties. Cities such as Crookston, Thief River Falls, Ada, and East Grand Forks are among those impacted.
Forecasters expect up to one additional inch of snow to accumulate before the system moves out early Thursday morning. While totals remain light, forecasters emphasize that even minor accumulations could make roads slick, especially on untreated or rural routes.
Motorists are urged to slow down and allow extra travel time. Officials recommend using extra caution during the evening and early morning hours as temperatures remain near freezing. Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 in Minnesota.
This advisory marks another round of winter weather affecting the region, even as April begins. Residents are reminded to stay updated on short-term forecasts and travel only if necessary until conditions improve.
