Raleigh, NC – A frost advisory has been issued for central North Carolina, warning residents of potentially damaging cold temperatures expected early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, temperatures are forecast to dip as low as 33°F between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT on Thursday, March 27. The advisory includes a broad region from Person and Granville counties down through Forsyth, Guilford, Durham, and into Halifax, Nash, and Chatham counties.
Officials caution that the cold spell may harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected. Gardeners and farmers are urged to cover plants or bring them indoors before temperatures fall overnight.
Cities such as Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham, Winston-Salem, and Rocky Mount are among the urban centers likely to experience light frost. These conditions, while not unusual for late March, follow an unseasonably mild week and could catch some residents off guard.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and take precautions before bedtime Wednesday night. Early commuters should also be alert for patchy frost, particularly in rural and low-lying areas.
This advisory marks the first issued by the Raleigh office this spring, signaling that colder-than-average conditions still linger in the region.
