Fort Worth, TX – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday for parts of Central and Western Texas due to strong winds and low humidity, creating a high risk for wildfires.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the warning for Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, Eastland, Erath, Comanche, Mills, and Hamilton counties. According to NWS, northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, are expected. Combined with relative humidity levels as low as 8-10% and temperatures ranging from 62 to 75 degrees, these conditions pose a significant fire threat.
Officials urge residents to avoid all outdoor burning and welding activities. Dry vegetation and strong winds can lead to rapid fire spread. Additionally, individuals should properly dispose of cigarette butts and report any wildfires immediately to local authorities.
Emergency services remain on high alert, and residents in affected counties should stay vigilant. The Red Flag Warning will remain in place until 9 p.m., with conditions expected to improve overnight as humidity levels rise and winds gradually subside.
For updates, residents are encouraged to monitor local news and weather services.
