Quad Cities, IL – Severe storms swept across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois on Tuesday, bringing hail, strong winds, and damage to trees. The National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities is now requesting public reports of any hail larger than a quarter (1” diameter) or wind gusts exceeding 58 MPH.
According to the NWS, the most impacted areas include eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and west-central Illinois, where multiple storm cells produced damaging winds and significant hail. Residents are encouraged to report any damage, including downed trees and branches, along with their exact location and time of occurrence.
These reports help meteorologists assess the severity of the storms and improve forecasting. The NWS shared a map highlighting the hardest-hit areas, including regions near Sterling, Macomb, and parts of the Quad Cities metro.
