Pendleton, OR – A winter weather advisory and wind advisory are in effect for parts of Oregon, bringing snow and gusty winds to the region through Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, snow will develop over the Oregon Cascades and the northern Blue Mountains beginning late Tuesday afternoon and continuing through 11 p.m. Thursday. The advisory affects areas above 4,000 feet in the Oregon Cascades and above 4,500 feet in the northern Blue Mountains, where total snowfall is expected to reach 4-10 inches. Gusts could reach up to 45 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions.
A separate wind advisory is also in place for the foothills of the northern Blue Mountains and the Grande Ronde Valley. Strong southeast to southwest winds of 20-35 mph, with gusts up to 45-55 mph, are forecasted. The wind advisory will be active from 5 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Thursday for the Blue Mountains and from 8 a.m. Tuesday through 2 a.m. Thursday for the Grande Ronde Valley.
