Green Bay, WI – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds to northern Wisconsin, impacting travel and potentially causing power outages.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday for Marathon, Langlade, and Northern Marinette counties. The storm is expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of snow and sleet, with wind gusts reaching 40 mph.
Officials warn that the combination of heavy snow and strong winds could lead to reduced visibility, downed tree limbs, and power outages. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, especially during the Wednesday evening commute.
Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is unavoidable, officials recommend carrying a flashlight, food, and water in case of emergency. Residents should also report downed power lines and outages to their utility providers.
