Columbia, SC – A line of strong storms will sweep through South Carolina on Sunday morning into the early afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and hail.
According to NWS Columbia, the state faces a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather. Storms could bring wind gusts strong enough to cause damage. One or two isolated tornadoes may form, increasing the risk to residents.
Officials urge people to prepare for severe weather. A Tornado Watch means tornadoes are possible, while a Tornado Warning means a tornado is happening or about to occur.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items, review emergency plans, and monitor updates. If a Tornado Warning is issued, seek shelter immediately in a sturdy, windowless room.
