Elko, NV – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of northern and central Nevada as a snowstorm is set to impact the region from late Saturday through early Tuesday, bringing hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Elko, snowfall is expected to begin at 4 p.m. Sunday and continue through 4 a.m. Tuesday across Northern Elko, Southern Lander, Southern Eureka, and Southwest Elko counties. Accumulations between 2 and 6 inches are forecasted, with localized areas seeing up to 8 inches over summits and passes.

Further west, the NWS Reno office has issued a separate advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe and Mono County areas from 10 p.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Monday. Snowfall amounts around Lake Tahoe will range from 2 to 4 inches at lake level, with 5 to 8 inches expected along the Sierra crest. Areas west of Highway 395 in Mono County may receive up to 10 inches.

Wind gusts of up to 45 mph at higher elevations could further impact visibility and road conditions. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, as snow-covered roads and blowing snow may lead to dangerous travel conditions, particularly during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
