Cheyenne, WY – Wyoming could be among the next states affected by a developing western storm next week, with mountain snow possible if the system follows a favorable track across the central Rockies.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado, said Tuesday that confidence is increasing in accumulating snow along Colorado’s Continental Divide as a storm moves through the Rockies around Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 12 14. The agency emphasized that the storm’s track, strength and timing are still evolving.
That uncertainty is particularly important for Wyoming. The Pueblo outlook depicts potential storm tracks extending across a broad portion of the central Rockies, but it does not specifically forecast accumulating snow in Wyoming .
Still, a track farther north could place portions of Wyoming closer to the colder side of the developing system, opening the possibility of snow in higher elevations. Exactly where that occurs — and whether lower elevations see any wintry weather — cannot be determined from the Colorado outlook.
Forecasters are also emphasizing the seasonal context. Winter weather during October is not unusual across the Rocky Mountains, particularly at higher elevations, so the possibility of mountain snow would not by itself represent an unusually early winter event.
For now, Colorado has the stronger snow signal. Wyoming should be treated as a possible extension of the developing central Rockies weather pattern rather than a confirmed snow forecast .
Readers should watch for forecasts from the National Weather Service in Wyoming and broader federal guidance over the coming days. Those updates should clarify whether the storm tracks far enough north to bring snow into Wyoming and, if so, which mountain areas could be affected.
