Cheyenne, WY – Snow, strong winds and potentially hazardous driving conditions are expected across portions of southeastern Wyoming beginning Sunday night, Nov. 1, with mountain snowfall reaching up to 12 inches and wind gusts approaching 55 mph in elevated locations.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, winter weather advisories are scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Sunday and continue through 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, as a winter weather system moves across the region.
Mountain Snowfall Could Reach 12 Inches The highest mountain peaks, particularly north facing slopes, could receive 6 to 12 inches of snow through Monday night.
Lower elevations near Arlington and the Interstate 80 Summit are expected to receive lighter accumulations, with approximately 2 to 4 inches possible above 9,000 feet.
Periods of light to moderate snowfall are expected Sunday night through Monday night.
I 80 Travel Could Become Hazardous Motorists traveling along Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Cheyenne could encounter changing road conditions as snow and gusty winds develop.
The National Weather Service warned that slick conditions are possible on roads and bridges, especially near higher elevation stretches of the interstate.
Wind gusts could reach approximately 40 mph along I 80, while exposed mountain locations could experience gusts as high as 55 mph.
The combination of accumulating snow and strong winds could make travel more difficult, particularly around Arlington and the Summit.
Drivers Urged to Monitor Conditions Travelers should prepare for changing visibility, slippery pavement and potentially difficult driving conditions through Monday evening.
The advisory covers portions of southeastern Wyoming, with the greatest snowfall expected across higher mountain elevations.
Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions before departure and allow additional travel time when necessary.
