Walworth County, WI – Authorities are notifying residents that a registered sex offender convicted of child enticement sexual contact and possession of child pornography has been released and will live in the Town of Lafayette.
According to information from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections shared by the Walworth County Sheriff ’s Office, Neal R. Moss was released Tuesday, Oct. 6, after serving the incarceration sentence imposed by the courts. Authorities emphasized that Moss is not currently wanted by law enforcement .
The public notification states Moss will live on Kniep Road west of Townline Road in the Town of Lafayette, located in Walworth County.
Moss was convicted in 2017 of child enticement sexual contact and possession of child pornography, according to the bulletin. He is a lifetime registrant with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry and remains under Department of Corrections supervision.
As part of that supervision, Moss will be subject to 24 hour enhanced electronic monitoring, including GPS monitoring, officials said.
Authorities said additional supervision rules prohibit Moss from having unsupervised contact with minors or consuming illegal drugs.
The sheriff’s office said the notification is being released under Wisconsin law, which allows law enforcement agencies to disclose information about a sex offender’s location when officials determine that doing so can enhance public safety, awareness and protection.
Officials stressed that the notice is intended to inform the community rather than create fear. Authorities also warned that using the information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
Residents can report witnessed violations to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office or the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Additional registry information is available through Wisconsin’s state sex offender registry.
