Milwaukee, WI – Residents across southeastern Wisconsin could see scattered thunderstorms, brief heavy downpours and small hail Monday, Oct. 12, as the National Weather Service highlights an evening window for developing storms.
According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office, widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening, with the greatest potential concentrated across the northeastern half of its forecast area.
The primary window for showers and thunderstorms extends from 5 p.m. through midnight , although precipitation chances will vary significantly by location.
Communities including Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Port Washington, West Bend, Fond du Lac and Beaver Dam are among the areas highlighted for possible activity.
The latest hourly forecast indicates precipitation probabilities could reach approximately 30% in Sheboygan, Port Washington and Fond du Lac during portions of the evening.
Milwaukee could see rain chances climb to around 25%, while nearby communities including Racine, Kenosha and Waukesha may experience more isolated activity.
Farther southwest, including Madison, Janesville and Monroe, storm chances generally remain lower.
Severe weather is not expected , according to forecasters. However, some thunderstorms could produce brief periods of heavy rainfall and small hail.
Motorists traveling along Interstate 43, Interstate 94 and other major southeastern Wisconsin highways should remain alert for sudden downpours that could temporarily reduce visibility and create slick road conditions.
The scattered nature of the forecast means some neighborhoods could experience thunderstorms while nearby communities remain dry.
The National Weather Service advises residents to move indoors if thunderstorms approach and remain attentive to changing conditions throughout the evening.
Residents planning outdoor activities or evening travel should monitor updated forecasts as the most favorable storm window approaches.
