Milwaukee, WI – Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the southern segment of the I 41 rehabilitation project, spanning the area between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive. As one of the state's most heavily traveled interstate corridors, this section accommodates upwards of 145,000 vehicles daily.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation WisDOT , workers successfully installed the final barrier wall along the interstate last week. Current activities include final pavement markings. Ongoing improvements to the corridor involve resurfacing the pavement and adding auxiliary lanes from Capitol Drive to Hampton Avenue, and from Burleigh Street to Capitol Drive.
While the southern segment nears completion, WisDOT noted that the northern project between Silver Spring Drive and Good Hope Road remains active and is scheduled for completion in 2027. Officials reiterated the importance of work zone safety, urging motorists to follow the message that “Safe Actions Save Lives.”
