Lake Geneva, WI – Visitors heading to downtown Lake Geneva for Oktoberfest this weekend should prepare for a major road closure, heavier traffic and increased demand for parking as festivities get underway.
According to the City of Lake Geneva Police Department , Wrigley Drive will close beginning at 5 a.m. Friday between Broad Street and Center Street as the city prepares for Oktoberfest activities.
The roadway is expected to remain closed throughout the weekend and reopen by 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12.
Oktoberfest activities begin Friday, Oct. 9, with a Pre Fest Beer Crawl scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. The celebration continues through the weekend in downtown Lake Geneva, drawing visitors to the popular Walworth County destination near the Illinois state line.
Police are advising anyone traveling downtown for the event to plan ahead and allow additional time for traffic and parking. The Wrigley Drive closure could affect motorists traveling near the lakefront and downtown businesses during one of the city's major fall events.
Drivers should watch for temporary traffic controls and increased pedestrian activity throughout the downtown area.
The festival traditionally brings seasonal activities, food and entertainment to the heart of Lake Geneva, making the area especially busy during the weekend.
Those attending should consider arriving early and identifying parking options before entering the busiest portions of downtown.
Additional Oktoberfest information and event details are available through Downtown Lake Geneva's official event website.
